I don’t usually post selfies – but this is from a video I filmed, to introduce a community arts project that I launched this week: Spreading Peace, Love & Joy – one Heart at a time.
I nearly didn’t launch the project – it seemed like the timing was wrong, what with having Cyberknife radiotherapy scheduled for Friday (as well as next Monday and Tuesday) to treat breast cancer metastases in my brain again.
I decided to go ahead because I feel so passionately about this, and I’ve been wanting to do it for a while.
But I’ve also never run a community project before.
And then, of course, there are the quarterly community photo challenges that Susannah Conway runs – which I generally join in on Instagram and my blog.
But I felt their projects always required a lot of effort: sending out daily e-mails or thinking up a different prompt for each day.
I knew I wouldn’t have the energy for that – so I decided to keep it simple.
“Spreading Peace, Love & Joy – one Heart at a time” is about making hearts and leaving them in public places, so that someone can find them and take them home – and hopefully feel a little better about the world as a result.
There are no rules – each person can do whatever they like!
It’s an idea I’ve had for a while – since 2016, in fact, when the world seemed to go mad and social media was filled with fear and negativity. Unfortunately, I had to take a break from creative projects for a while, when I became ill.
The level of fear and negativity in the world has improved a little since then, but I thought positivity could still do with a little push!
I have no idea how the project will go – but a few people have already joined in, and have said how much they love the idea, so I’m feeling positive about it!
I’m even thinking how wonderful it would be, if the project were to go viral on a global scale!!
So if you’d like to join in too, you’re very welcome. And please invite your friends. 🙂
