My theme for 2014 started out as “Nurture. Faith. Joy” – by mid-year that had changed to “Creative Recovery” as I wanted to use creativity to help me recover from a spine operation and metastatic breast cancer.
Later, when it was clear that I was starting to recover, the theme changed to “Creative Expression” as I started to not only create more photos and videos, but also started to share them on my blog and on Facebook.
For 2015, my theme is “Creative Adventure” as I start to make my way out into the world a bit more, in a physical sense, rather than spending so much time connecting with people on-line.
It all started when I came across a video by Xanthe Berkeley, filmed during a creative gathering in California in 2014. While I was watching it, I thought “wouldn’t it be lovely to be involved in something similar?” California is a bit too far away, at the moment, so I was thinking it would be nice if I could join in a similar gathering here in the UK.
Imagine my delight when I checked my e-mails, half an hour later, and found an invitation from a friend to join her for a creative adventure on Lundy island!!
When I learned that it would involve a 2 hour ferry crossing, though, I wasn’t so keen – I’m a lousy sailor! Fortunately, my friend has assured me she will be organising other adventures later in the year, without the need to travel by boat. I’m so looking forward to it! 🙂
