Julia Barnickle, photographer - Reflections in Kingston-upon-Thames

This week I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather, so I’ve not been out filming. Instead, I went for a short walk in Kingston and set up an on-line shop on Zazzle to sell greeting cards.

For years, I’ve wanted to create greeting cards from some of my photographs and art, but it’s such a faff, printing out the pictures and sticking them onto blank cards – and I usually end up with more glue on the front of the picture than on the back!

So when my Creative Adventurer friend Morwhenna told me she had started an on-line shop with Zazzle, I thought I’d give it a go too. At the moment, I’ve only got a few items for sale, but I’ll gradually be adding more from my vast archive of photographs!

Here’s a selection of what’s currently on offer. The cards are competitively priced – so if you’d like to buy a friend or family member a greetings card that’s not available on the High Street, take a look at my shop: http://www.zazzle.co.uk/juliabarnickle*

  1. Good luck with the cards, Julia – it sounds like an exciting and satisfying outlet for your creativity! After seeing your recent photo challenge work, I hope someday you’ll do a London collection , too. I’m sure the green punk mohican one would be popular with visitors to the city! The stunning card of the sunset at Kingston-upon-Thames is my favourite.

Sorry to hear you’ve been under the weather, but I hope that bringing all these dreams to fruition will give your health a boost of joy.

Thanks Janice – yes, it’s been fun playing with photographs while I haven’t had the energy to go gallivanting about London! Thanks also for the suggestion of doing a London collection – I did wonder whether people might like cards with photos of London, especially the slightly unusual views. Not sure whether I could use the green punk mohican photo, though, as I feel I would need to ask for permission to use it commercially.

  3. Beautiful cards. I really like them, especially the ones with the watercolor designs. I also want to wish you good luck with the cards and your store !
