Paul and I went to the Languedoc, South West France, mid-way through this week – to the village of La Redorte. It’s in a wide valley in the middle of the Minervois wine region, about thirty minutes drive from Carcassonne, forty minutes from Narbonne and the Mediterranean and two hours from the Pyrenées mountains and the Spanish border.
The Montagne Noir lies to the north of the valley, the Corbières mountains to the south, and the Canal du Midi (which joins the Atlantic coast to the Mediterranean) runs through one side of the village.
We used to go there regularly, but we haven’t been for eight years – since before I became ill – so it was wonderful to renew old acquaintances and make new ones, and to take a bit of time to relax by the Canal du Midi. The video below was shot on iPhone 6.
