I’d like to say “well done” to Birmingham New Street station – henceforth known as Grand Central. It’s been a painful couple of years, and I got lost several times while construction was underway, but the end result is stunning. The first floor gallery has an impressive range of eateries which were all full of happy eaters (so it was a little noisy for an introvert like me, but never mind). Definitely 10/10 🙂
I was visiting my family in Birmingham and spent a couple of hours wandering round and taking photos of my old haunts, before heading back to London. I hadn’t visited Birmingham town centre for years, so I hadn’t seen the redevelopment of the Bullring Centre either.
I was glad to see the Rotunda is still standing, despite being hated by many. It looks like it’s apartments now, whereas it used to be offices. I can remember walking in to all the airline offices in my early 20s asking for a job – then turning down a permanent job offer to manage a campsite near St Tropez for the summer. Ah, the impetuousness of youth!
